Explore Your Neighborhood! Activities for this Week

Submitted by Beth K on

This week, we have many exciting prompts and activities to help you explore your neighborhoods. Especially in this time of spring, there are many aspects of our ecosystems and communities that can be observed!

1. Animal Homes - explore animal habitats and the resources they need (2nd-5th grade)

2. What is Soil? - investigate the soil in your neighborhood (Middle School)

3. Orienteering Exploration - a basic guide to map and compass navigation (5th grade and up)

4. Discovering Your Ecosystem with Poetry - observe the natural world and write about it! (4th-7th grade)

5. Ecological Guidebook - develop a guidebook to describe where you live (Middle School and up)

If you'd like to video chat with the MOSS staff and grad students about your adventures this week, you can join us at 10am mountain time on Friday May 1st.

Email Beth (ekochevar@uidaho.edu) with your name, age, and which activities you completed, and she'll send you a zoom link on Thursday afternoon for the Friday Zoom session.

Enjoy your adventures!

Fun fact- The ice on Payette Lake fully melted midday on April 26th this year!

Spring is upon us!
